Centre of Excellence in Evolutionary Genetics and Physiology

The Centre combines and co-ordinates the research and education efforts of three research units in the study of evolutionary genetics and physiology in vertebrates. The research units are :

Ecological Genetics Research Unit (EGRU)
Environmental and Evolutionary Physiology Research Unit (EEPRU)
Molecular Ecology and Evolution Research Unit (MEERU)

Methodologies employed in our research include traditional ecological, genetic and physiological measurements, combined with modern molecular and statistical approaches. We combine field, laboratory and experimental studies to address various questions relating to animal adaptation to natural and human-induced selection pressures. Most of our research is conducted with non-mammalian vertebrates, especially with fishes and birds.
